In-car tablet mount suggestions?

I'm getting a new car shortly (Land Rover Discovery 2 - I like the interior and need the space!) and will be wanting to run a Hudl for my GPS and in car entertainment. I already have an Alpine stereo with built in Parrot/USB and 3.5mm jack, so that's connectivitiy taken car of, but what I do want is a mount for the Hudl that is not connected to the windscreen i.e. fixed on the dash, and for it to be very stable (I don't want it popping off mid-journey).

Anyone have any suggestions?

They have gone to a lot of trouble with their advertising and that's a good sign. I guess it depends on the air vents in the vehicle to a large extent.

That seller also has a lot of other mounts as well so may have a permanent fit one.

I've never been a fan of vent mounts (especially if you need to use the vent!)

Last one I had snapped off a bit which got stuck in the pipes and I could hear it rattling for months after when I turned the fan up. It's still in there somewhere I think!

I've always used Brodit mounts. They come in two parts, one to suit the device and one to suit the car. The part that attaches to the car is non damaging to the interior as well.

 

If you change the car or the device you only need to change the corresponding mount or car clip.

 

Even if they don't make the mount for the Tesco Hudl you could still use the car portion and mount a generic Hudl holder to it.

 

I've always found them rock solid and they find some really ingenious ways to fit them to the dashboard without damaging it, usually in a variety of positions around the dash.

Another for Brodit, had it in my last car, well worth their money although once you get the part code from their website you can shop around and get them cheaper in some cases.

I've been looking for a mount for my car and the recommendation that always comes back which others have suggested is Brodit. I'm tempted to get one for my car as I could do with using my phone as sat nav and didn't fancy paying the manufacturer nearly a grand for the built in system!

 

I did worry it might look a bit 2004 sticking a phone mount to the dashboard but it would be handy. Even Mercedes don't seem to have a problem with it if you look at the new A-Class interior.

It's like they designed the dash then someone pointed out to them they hadn't left enough space for a touch screen head unit. "Not to worry, I'll get my drill and we'll just bolt a cheap tablet onto it like so". It's probably quite ergonomic but I honestly can't believe it comes out of the factory looking like that! The new C Class is the same.
