Hi all,

 

Very frustrating issue this one....

 

We have a Sanyo PCL-XE32 in one of our science rooms, and it has recently stopped working. Unfortunately it's proving very difficult to troubleshoot as this particular range of projectors has no control panel on the actual projector itself.

 

Essentially the fault is that it won't turn on. There is a power light illuminated when it is connected to the mains, however the remote does not turn on the projector. We've done the obvious and changed the batteries in the remote, but no joy. Unfortunately, having read the manual, it is possible to activate a code on the remote and the projector which essentially means only that particular remote can be used on the projector, so we can't even use an alternate remote (although we have tried several just in case). Problem is, we can't narrow down where the fault actually lies.

 

Any suggestions?

Chances are something has expired between the power LED and the rest of the unit...

 

I would be either writing it off for a new one, or getting it to a repair centre. bear in mind however, that most projector repairs seem to come in at roughly half the cost of a new unit, is it worth it?

 

LeEdit: These units go for about £70 on ebay fully working, and about £30 untested/spares-repairs, so it might even be worth buying one from ebay and selling your damaged one to get 50% back!

Try this below to reset your remote, just to take this out of the equation:

 

This projector provides two different remote control codes;

the factory-set, initial code (Code 1) and the secondary code(Code 2). This switching function prevents remote control interference when several projectors or video equipment are operated at the same time.When the projector is operated in "Code 2, " both the projector and the remote control must be switched to"Code 2. "To change the code for the projector:Select either "Code 1" or "Code 2" in this Setting Menu.

 

To change the code for the remote control:

Press and hold both the MENU and IMAGE buttons together for more than 5 seconds. After changing the code,make sure the remote control operates properly.

@bossman I have already given that a go, but it didn't work.

 

We have managed to solve this issue though...we were on the scavenge in our old 6th Form Centre and found another remote....tried it on the faulty projector and hey presto it worked :-)
