Tesla Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 (edited) Hi all does anyone know what domains etc you have to whitelist in order to get youtube working over android, we have allowed a couple that allow it to work for iPads, but this has not worked for android, we are using the web rather the app as we know proxies dont work well with android apps. EDIT: Everything loads on youtube except the video itself, it just continually loads. Thanks Edited March 7, 2014 by Tesla
JLecras Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 We are having similar problems - but we can't get it to run on Apple iPads either What addresses have you whitelisted to allow them to run on Apple?
Tesla Posted March 7, 2014 Author Posted March 7, 2014 c.youtube.com m.youtube.com youtube.com/videoplayback
brewerd Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 there are some videos that are hosted on googlevideo.com too. If you check the source code of the page you can usually identify which urls the video is loading from (or trying to) then add that URL to your whitelist and presto changeo it should work.
Tesla Posted March 7, 2014 Author Posted March 7, 2014 Any7 idea how to view page source code/inspect element on an android tablet
brewerd Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 yeah sure, should've mentioned that. just add "view-source:" to the start of the URL in chrome for android and it will show you the pages source code. 2
themightymrp Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Any mileage in allowing youtu.be addresses too? 1
Tesla Posted March 7, 2014 Author Posted March 7, 2014 i'll try viewing that source info page when i have some spare time... just added youtu.be....to no avail
free780 Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 There are some traffic monitor s for android. You have to view the log using wireshark.
Tesla Posted March 10, 2014 Author Posted March 10, 2014 so no one knows a list of urls youtube uses for android? i have too much on atm to sit and try and work out what it's using
Griff Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I can play youtube videos via my phone HTC One x using our staff proxy on the wifi but when I try it on my Samsung Tab 3 I get the same issue as @Tesla everything loads apart from the video...DUB TEH EFF?
Tesla Posted March 21, 2014 Author Posted March 21, 2014 LOL, funny thing is it works on my own phone (an S4) , just not the acer tablet running jelly bean.... (unsure how long its worked on my phone, i've always been under the impression it never worked)
Griff Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Had anymore luck with this? I have tried so many solutions non of them work.
Griff Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 @Tesla mate I just fixed this no joke...right I went into my wireless controller and the system time was off by about 4 hours so I updated the time and date restarted my wireless controller and its fixed the issue on my tablet....try it let me know. What wireless system are you running there?
Tesla Posted April 22, 2014 Author Posted April 22, 2014 We Just have Wireless access points patched in to the main system, i dont think thats the issue as my phone works and the tablet doesnt, in the same location using the same wireless point
Arthur Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 so no one knows a list of URLs YouTube uses for Android? The domain below is pretty much the only URL accessed while watching videos in the YouTube app or YouTube in a browser. *.1e100.net (HTTPS) I used an app called Network Log to find this out.
