New Laptop..

Come April I'm going to be looking to get a new work laptop and was wondering if any of our friendly Edugeek suppliers could quote me for a pre built or snazzy custom built one.

 

I want:

 

An i5 or AMD equivalent.

8GB RAM.

SSD.

Probably 13" or slightly larger.

Win 7 Pro at least.

 

All for under £400.

What size SSD would you be after? I mean, I have to admit, I think you'd be lucky to get a laptop meeting that full spec for less than £400 (unless you mean £400 + VAT) at which point it might be a bit easier, but the SSD will be the costly be that probably pushes it over budget. If cost is an issue, you might be better getting the main machine with a standard drive, then getting an SSD at a later date when budget allows - it's what I did with my own laptop.

Yeah that was my thought. OK make it an HDD and ill stick an SSD in.

Try @ICTDirect_Dave. They have them at that spec and price. In fact, we brought one from them last year and very nice it is too

AMD don't seem to make a good competitive rival to anything above the mid range i3 processors. However as others have said, you may well struggle with those specs. I paid 300 ex VAT for an i3 with 4gb of RAM, Hard drive (albeit with a 3 year warranty) last week and they are fine for day to day use by students and most staff and for when we are off main site for us too.
