I have been asked to get 5 competitive quotes for new laptops. I have quotes from Stone and VeryPC, and have a quote coming from UK Zones who we do a lot of work with. However finding 2 more competitive quotes is proving hard, Dell were not competitive, we no longer have any dealings with Misco. Who else do people use from here? They are going to be used in a primary school so they will need to be really quite robust.

Im a little surprised Dell where not competitive, they where cheaper than stone last time we priced some up.

You could look at HP laptops from one of our resellers on here, @CPLTD is an example.

I find Dell a nightmare to get competitive quotes from. Anyway I tend to buy from Insight UK as have had good quotes from them in the past. If you are talking to Stone I would get a price on some Samsung ones too (personally not impressed with their own laptops).

Stones own laptops are great. We have about 200 of their new core i5 laptop (NT310). http://www.stonegroup.co.uk/products/notebooks/nt310.aspx

They are rebadged clevo's and are pretty rugged for students and the battery life is very good -we ripped out the Optical drive and webcam to further improve the battery.

The fact the keys on the keyboard can't be pulled off is a bonus.

3 year warranty on the battery too.

Getting a quote direct from Dell is near on impossible, until you ask them for an equalogic then they hound you.

Stone will probably send you an Eval laptop if you ask them.

They did for us and got them to pre-image them for us (for free) which was great.

Here is my 2 pence - HP support is awful! They do not understand and you end up talking to 'Brian' from India.

Was just looking at some HP laptops for the first time but think I will give it a miss now. Got an HP san and getting support for that at times is a pain in the bottom.

Yeah, not even looking at HP or ACER at the moment. Acer as it took them 2 months to replace a screen (where they also wiped the hard drive...) and HP as I hate ringing them up on the phone. From the big few suppliers, I quite like the Lenovo range at the moment. Got a B590 from Zones last week with an i3 processor and it built a dream to our network!

@HTCPCP I can help you out with a very competitive quote.

My refurbished Lenovo T410s have been incredibly popular over the last few months. We've sold hundreds, and they're perfect for primary school use!

If you want to let me know what kind of quantity you're looking for I'll be happy to give you a quote! :)
