AndyCan Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 So i've been trying to get this feature working for our projectors as we have Apple TV's setup so i want a solution for our Windows laptops. I've got to the screen on both Windows 7 and 8 where you either Search for your projector or enter the network address. I can ping the projector fine from the laptop but if i do Search for projector, it finds nothing and then if i try entering the address, nothing. But then im not totally sure how i should be entering the projector address. I've tried \\192.168.1.58 \\ \\192.168.1.58\ \\192.168.1.58\projectors\ but no luck. I don't know if its something i am doing wrong or if its a networking issue going on here. Anyone with experience of getting this feature working?
FN-GM Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Do the projectors support this? Just because it has a network port doesn't mean you can do this.
AndyCan Posted February 20, 2014 Author Posted February 20, 2014 the one ive tested it on is a Epson PowerLite 92 H384A and it has all the network menu items such as password and LAN is one of the source options
FN-GM Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 If LAN is a source option looks like your cooking. All our projectors have network ports but we can't use this, although we don't need it. Is your projector and laptop on the same subnet? From what i can gather there should be some kind of auto discover.
AndyCan Posted February 20, 2014 Author Posted February 20, 2014 yep on same subnet and like i said i can ping the projector address successfully, just doesnt discover it when i use the search function. But i wasnt sure if this was a windows or networking shortcoming as ive never used this particular windows feature so dont know how reliable it is before i start blaming the network side of things
john Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 From what I can see from the manual - https://files.support.epson.com/htmldocs/pl92__/pl92__ug/index.html it is for monitoring it such as lamp life, control of the projector etc... not sending images to it.
Townsend Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I have only seen this done via the Epson Easy MP software package - comes free with most Epson projectors and a really great piece of kit for networking your projectors - cant understand why Epson do not promote this far more than they do!
AndyCan Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 I've since found out that you can only send images to the projector through the LAN source, not project so i was wrong and it won't do this unfortunately

Kingstech Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Have you looked at wireless HDMI dongles. We have just installed some and they are great. And device with HDMI can use it.
