2B went in today for the first time and loved the new computers. C was first to discover the touch screen and was more animated than ever before! He couldn't wait to tell his sister in KS2 and excitedly shouted that he was using them everyday!!! They found the paint it programme fantastic to use and can't wait to go in again!

Thank you for the time and effort you have put into it. 2B love it!

 

Apparently this kid barely talks most of the time.

I have a lovely drawing of Butterflies from the Butterflies FS class on my wall that says "Thank you for our new projector"

It made me smile that it made such an impression on one kid who is usually quite introverted.

I happened to be sitting in an IT room testing something on the first day back of the school year when a group walked in for the first time to see some of the new kit we'd spent all summer hauling about.

 

"Oh my god! That monitor is bigger than my TV at home!"

The kids are of course the important ones, however the staff are the folks that need to help them grow, improve, mature. All therefore are important.

 

The little thanks like that though, go a hell of a long way. Every now and then we get little thank yous, either directly or in chocolate form just for doing what we do. Knowing you make a difference, and being told it always puts a smile on my face.

Obviously, i appreciate the staff are important too.

 

It's just more satisfying to know that the kids have got some enjoyment out of it too...

Awesome bear. But you realise that in doing it for teaching and learning, you are doing it for the kids.... not the staff? As by nature, teaching and learning is for the kids and to improve their life chances. You've got the right attitude to it though!

But saying I'm focused on "teaching and learning" lets me demand that staff think about WHY they want the latest shiny thing.

I started a Technologies club few months back, mostly using code.org and have few kids that are really excited. My wife (librarian) said there is gossip from the kids around the campus that i'm cool I think its great the kids are getting some tech training as it's almost as important as the other core lessons these days.
