this is driving me and some of the staff here nuts

I have a suite of which macs 2 of I upgraded to maverick, they are fully updated to 10.9.1

this was supposed to fix a issue with keychains prompts

Addresses an issue that may cause multiple prompts to unlock “Local items” keychain

but yet I am still getting the keychain prompt on logins, I have tried the delete the long key folder within ~/Library/Keychains/ of both users and local admin accounts and neither of these fixed the problem.

any help would sooth my pains on this..

Sounds like a bug.

On older OSX versions you'd get to a similar problem if you changed the login password externally, which then wouldn't match the keychain password.

Had this with a Mac Mini we purchased recently. I did very little when setting up myself and didn't have the problem, but when it went out to the user they reported this issue. Recommended the below to them and have had no complaints since -

1). Open finder menu, Select Go from the top bar and Utilities Folder. Scroll down and find Keychain Access. Open Keychain Access.

2). Click on the name of the Keychain on the left pane which you are having the multiple requests for passwords from, in my case it was “login”.

3). Select Edit from the top menu. Select “Change Settings for keychain “login”. Now there should be a pop up window with checkmark boxes asking you:

Lock after __ minutes of actvity.

Lock when sleeping.

Select uncheck or change settings to your preference. Mine was default set to lock after 5 minutes hence the constant barrage of password requests. This took care of it for me after trying to repair keychains and resetting keychain passwords to match my admin password to no avail. Good luck.

Hmm, what happens if you remove that users keychain file? Are they OD/AD integrated machines? Remember if you change a password server side then the users keychain will need to be deleted and recreated

I've had this problem since upgrading to Mavericks every month after I change my domain password on login (30-day policy). I've had to open Keychain access and unlock/lock (lock/unlock?) either login or LocalItems, I forget which. After which, it's all good until the next month.

Upgraded to 10.9.1 recently, so hopefully that'll have sorted it come next month.
