tj2419 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I have been given a grant to spend on 'Student Resources' IT wise. Its around £4000. Now i will need to buy some laptops to replace some ageing ones used for SEN and exams. But any other interesting ideas before i get told to spend it all on iPads It has to be things the students would use though so i can't really buy a new server or something like that.
featured_spectre Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 you obviously need the ultimate gaming machine with max RAM and gfx for your office...

catch21 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Sorry but - what a stupid way to run a school budget. Is the whole management/governance structure completely devoid of strategy or direction?
X-13 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Its around £4000. Take the money and run. Is the whole management/governance structure completely devoid of strategy or direction? You must be new to education.
tj2419 Posted February 11, 2014 Author Posted February 11, 2014 Sorry but - what a stupid way to run a school budget. Is the whole management/governance structure completely devoid of strategy or direction? Apology accepted. It is a grant we have Been awarded rather than out of our schools central budget which is allocated according to our aims. We do have a strategy which is very well established. Hence the reason for investing part of it into renewing laptops available to our SEN department. The point of the question was for advice and sharing from colleagues who work in ICT to ensure we consider the best most effective way to spend the grant. I believe it would be very poor of me to just say off hand we'll spend it all on laptops without adequate research. Thank you for all the helpful advice from others.
catch21 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 New to education! Good luck with spending your windfall.
witch Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Bless education - I've just been sent the wishlist for next years spend as I am a Budget holder, apparently... Our LA has tech, senior tech and NM and only the latter can have a budget. Guess which one I am? I can endorse the lovely @ICTDirect_Dave's Lenovo T410s - brilliant beasts they are 1
catch21 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 On a more helpful rather than incredulous note then, maybe you could bring forward some of the items on your two year IT plan, to give you a bit a breathing space and more time to think.
