I have a client school asking if there is any video for blacking out/ blurring/ pixelating headshots in a school production.

Does anyone have suggestions for this?

Thanks in advance. :)

Hello There

I have a client who is very proficient at video editing and runs his own animation studio in Sheffield, I asked his advice on this and he has replied following:

"most editing software will; Premiere, Final Cut etc but whatever you choose it will be an element of manual work and not 100% automated.

I did something similar on a job recently where the client wanted to blur out a logo. You need to motion track the footage (automated but you have to set it up) and then you can track an object and parent you mask to it, which again will be automated once it is set up.

There may be a plugin that does all this for you but you will need edit software first. What are they using currently?"

Hope it`s a help

Thanks

I had to do this once for a school production where the head wanted to sell copies of the recording but there was a child who could not be shown. I used Premiere Pro and masking to achieve the blur but it was a lot of hassle although it did the job.

Additionally, the pixelation gave the whole thing the feel of a police reality show and really spoilt the tone of the performance, so much so that in the end we did not distribute it.
