dibekem Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Morning guys. What is the easiest way of distributing Adobe reader across the school? How can I get the MSI for it? I registered for distribution with Adobe but it still seems so complicated how to do it. I've got a manual which is like 200 pages. How do you guys deploy it? Thanks
sted Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 download the exe from the website download adobe customization wizard extract acrobat.exe with something like 7zip so you have an msi use adobe customization wizard to set it up how you want and save an mst use groiup policy to deploy it
jamesfed Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 A guide that I made a while back on the matter - Deploying Adobe Reader 11 to the Enterprise via GPO | my world of IT A few hoops to jump through but its a pretty nice process once you think about it
dibekem Posted February 10, 2014 Author Posted February 10, 2014 Wow. It looks very promising:) A much better guide than the Adobe's. Thanks so much!
dibekem Posted February 13, 2014 Author Posted February 13, 2014 Thanks james. It worked. Easy guide. Thanks a lot 1
ass17 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Easy answer is don't use adobe reader, we are moving to foxit PDF reader, lighter, and they supply GPOs for you to customise it.
mikeyd101 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Anyone use SCCM for deploying third party programs / updates? My problem is the number of version they release and trying to keep ontop reader, flash, java etc I looked at trying to use WSUS to update custom updates but got stumped on the certificate bit. Also do you guys let reader / flash auto update?
free780 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 You can use scup for reader and flash. I haven't had a proper look yet. Java you can keep up to date with. Somewhere oracle have a timetable of scheduled dates. You just need to give it a week after its been released. Test it with this ngs you use that need it.
