I'm currently student teaching and whenever I plug my toshiba satellite laptop into the usb part of the promethean board, there appears to be random mouse clicks that start to open and close all sorts of programs. Is there anyway to resolve this problem? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the acivinspire software and changing the screen resolution.. I'm just not sure what to do. Any suggestions??

Contact IT support for your school!

In the US the teacher is often first line support in a school.

Their main tech support often works at district level and can be as few as 10 people covering 20+ schools, which is why they are asking here I suspect, so please be nice.

I have had this a few times. The first time the board had to be changed. The second time it was power cables running behind the board, re-routing the cables resolved it. The third time was much easier. Dis connect the USB and power cable for the board and leave it for 30 mins and power it back up and it just kicked into life.

If you don't have the benefit of a local technician to call upon, then the best thing is to try and isolate the problem. It doesn't sound like a software / laptop problem, but see if you can try someone else's laptop on the same board to eliminate one or the other. If it is the laptop, try a different USB port or try uninstalling and reinstalling the activ driver (uninstalling the activeinspire itself is not likely to do anything). If is the board, try turning off and on the power to the board, also try using a different USB cable between the laptop and the faceplate. That is a starting point, if you're still stuck, you can report back your findings so far.
