aarono Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I was talking to a couple of the very friendly edugeek team during BETT this year where they revealed to me that next year there will be a ‘Geek of the year’ competition which would be decided by a battle to the death in the BETT Arena! Are there any further updates on this please?
featured_spectre Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Pick your weapon...Mace and Bolas, Net and Trident, or Sword and Shield.
elsiegee40 Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Pick your weapon...Mace and Bolas, Net and Trident, or Sword and Shield. A bit of Cat5E , a packet of eduhobnobs and my best glare should be enough...
featured_spectre Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Maybe a Cat5e o nine tails with sharpened floppy disk shurikens?
Little-Miss Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Jeez...I don't remember signing up for this....
ICTDirect_Dave Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Webcast, subscription only. You said EG would be free forever! The lure of Pay Per View riches gets everone in the end! I think we should tech this up a little and have have programmable systems that you can use to hurt your opponent. Hackable mechanical arm throwing arena seats yes?
Little-Miss Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I think it should be more Hunger Games/Battle Royale style...
ICTDirect_Dave Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I think it should be more Hunger Games/Battle Royale style... This is Geeks, so Robot Wars Surely? We can even have the Mods lurking in Danger Zones with their own signature lethal attacks

Domino Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 okay....I raise you BAE's Taranis Combat Drone Now Flying Above the UK | Gizmodo UK
GREED Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Sounds like an awesome plan. So can we have drone wars inside Excel? As craft come down they explode on stands, points for taking out certain stands!
Dos_Box Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 okay....I raise you BAE's Taranis Combat Drone Now Flying Above the UK | Gizmodo UK I'm keeping an eye out for that. Most of the stuff going in and out of Warton from the east flies past the EduGeek office window
ICTDirect_Dave Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I'm keeping an eye out for that. Most of the stuff going in and out of Warton from the east flies past the EduGeek office window Not so sure they're building it here as Samlesbury is geared to build eurofighter and the JSF whilst Warton is mainly weapons and operational support at the moment. That said Warton is the only one in the area with a runway in operation so who knows.

ICTDirect_Dave Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 You planning on bringing some of those inside excel then?
aarono Posted February 10, 2014 Author Posted February 10, 2014 Thank you everyone for the updates, they have all been very helpful. How do you apply?
Domino Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 You approach @Dos_Box and exclaim "Who run barter town?" When Tina Turner appears your entry has been registered...
mac_shinobi Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 You planning on bringing some of those inside excel then? @ICTDirect_Dave - nope , but surely @Domino would need to have been authorised to fly over BETT 2015 in an aircraft with weapons like that ??
