Just bought an ML350p G8 that comes with 4 network ports plus iLO.

I'm planning ahead and need to configure. This is what i had in mind - host OS plus 3 or 4 VMs, each with static ip of ..10.1 / ..10.2 / ..10.3 / ..10.4 etc

But, anyone got any idea how this works out with configuring the physical ports?

Does/can each VM take a physical network port or do they simply go thru the host OS? In which case are the physical ports for teaming only??

I would team all up and share between host on VM's. That way you will have redundancy. If a switchport fails you have 3 other ports to use. It also makes 4 x 1GB connections into 1 x 4GB virtual connection. The host wouldn't use much bandwidth so it won't hog bandwidth from the VM's

This is how our CCTV server looks. (attached) If I unplug upto 3 network cables things run as normal and there is no downtime.
