Untidy Cables?

We have teacher computers either on the floor or on the desk connected to the Smartboard, video splitter, visualiser etc but with the amount of cables its looks a bit of a mess. Any suggestions what people use to keep it all tidy? Pat testers don't like the spiral stuff as they request to inspect the whole length and last time I used it they just took it all off!

I use the velcro cable ties. They are easy to remove and reposition

Ditto to Velcro ties, but don't buy the pre cut ones - buy a roll and cut them to size to waste less!

I had one school that got an electrician in to cut all the kettle leads to length after some H&S bulls**t appeared in a governors meeting... looks good but its a PITA if I want to move anything.

Used the Velcro cut length ones before ay another school, where do you get the uncut length ones?

Velcro FTW! Alternatively a cage under the desk and drop the spare lengths through the hole.

Leave the mains cables outside of it but spiral wrap everything else as it's got nothing to do with the testing?

if the excess is going anywhere in particular, put it in some trunking. And the advantage to that is that when it comes to changing the odd cable it can be a bit of a faff, but then again no real issue. If you use Velcro, then usually some kid takes great enjoyment in taking all the velcro off, in a similar way that they enjoy unplugging everything etc. Heaven forbid when they work out that you can open trunking...

I almost give up with keeping teachers desk areas tidy from cables. Too many times rooms have been painted without our knowledge, and everything is pulled out or teachers just yank the desk around to a new position also without asking us. They then seem surprised when something is suddenly not working due to disconnections

That's the problem, I put them in tidy then over time theres painting, summer tidy etc etc and it's just dumped back. Now I get the call that it's all looking very untidy. Now when I'll get the time to sort them I don't know! Anyway first on list is to buy some Velcro.
