nathan3388 Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 I was wondering if this board has Bluetooth capability or how do you tell if has Bluetooth capability. Also has anyone got a guide on how to connect up the Promethean boards up via Bluetooth. Thanks Nathan
plexer Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 I don't think it does and according to the promethean knowledge base it looks like there are some 78 boards that have Bluetooth but none sold in the uk. Ben
nathan3388 Posted January 17, 2014 Author Posted January 17, 2014 Thanks for that. Maybe you will know is there anyway of transmitting the USB, that controls the board via Bluetooth or any other way to transmit it without it been plugged in?.
plexer Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 No that I know of and I wouldn't recommend it anyway, I'm guessing you have an issue with where the board is installed in relation to it's pc? Ben
nathan3388 Posted January 17, 2014 Author Posted January 17, 2014 Yeah we are hopefully swapping the teacher stations with mac airs. There is one room where the USB to the board goes about 15 meters. Which is too far for the mac to pick up the board. Could you suggest anything to try?
Tallwood_6 Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 You can buy a promethean wireless usb dongle which will get that board working wirelessly but i dont think it uses bluetooth.
witch Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 You can buy a promethean wireless usb dongle which will get that board working wirelessly but i dont think it uses bluetooth. Really? I asked Promethean direct to ask this question and they said you can't do it in the UK
plexer Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 If you can run a cat5 then get usb over cat5 adaptors or active usb cable/s will reach. Ben 1
nathan3388 Posted January 17, 2014 Author Posted January 17, 2014 Will give that a try see what they do and as for the Promethean wireless dongle I cannot find anything about them .
Tallwood_6 Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 http://www.misco.co.uk/Product/Q196869/Promethean-Activhub-2-4GHz-for-Learning-Response-System That is what you need, I know it works has I've had the same model board connected wirelessly at work although I do remember having to firmware upgrade it first.
Tallwood_6 Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 http://www.misco.co.uk/Product/Q195744/PROMETHEAN-ActivBoard-300PRO-series-wireless-upgrade Is the proper official kit for the board I think. 1
witch Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 It says the 300 pro boards need a wireless upgrade but I cant find anything about it?
plexer Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 That linked to dongle is the wireless upgrade. Ben
jon_nais Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Sorry for raising an old thread, but has anyone tried using the wireless dongle for connecting to a whiteboard? We always have a bit of a mare connecting in some rooms as the runs are too long and the new PCs (HP) don't like the boards that much!!!! For the cost it could save a lot of hassle and cabling, but only if it works..... Thanks
