Sun Globe Desktop - Java Version 7 Update 51 Issues

If you are having any issues with SGD after the most recent update - Version 7 Update 51. The only way around this is to turn down the Java security settings, I advise you do this only when using Remote Access and to revert back to the original (High) settings once finished.

 

If you are using Internet Explorer 10 or above you will still need to make sure that compatibility mode is enabled.

 

To change the Java security settings go to Start Button– All Programs – Java – Configure Java

 

Then go to the Security Tab and Change this to Medium.

 

Click apply and OK. Then close down Internet Explorer and reopen it and then you should be able to login. I have tested this myself with Internet Explorer 8,9,10 and 11 and this seems to work.

Not sure if this is the same issue but The Cutter Project [who support our SGD] contacted me earlier this month to tell me they wanted to pre-emptivley apply a patch to our SGD deployment.

 

The patch was called SGD JAR Manifest Patch. We were told that if this was not installed on our servers then staff and students would not be able to access the school network via SGD after applying Java Version 7: Update 51.
