ClaireJoanne Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Hi everybody We are having our interactive whiteboards and projectors replaced in the Feb half term and I am wondering about how to dispose of the old stuff. I know there are companies that will collect but does anyone know if there is a resale value on these items? We have Series 5 Smartboards which are almost 9 years old but still function, and the projectors are NEC NP215’s - these are just over 3 years old. We also have some NEC VT37 projectors leftover from a previous upgrade - these are about 9 years old. I have looked on eBay and there are some on there - don’t know how they sell though. Has anyone else tried this route? Thanks CJ
elsiegee40 Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Try speaking to @Millgate. They will pay for stuff that has value. 2
Millgate Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Thanks Yes, we can sometimes buy old kit (depending on what it is). Unfortunately though, this doesn't really have any value. I'd recommend getting someone to dispose of it FOC for you. I can arrange this if you wish? Luke
fairm010 Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 I have 14 Netgeat WNDAP350 WAPS and one controller going if you can buy it? @Millgate
Millgate Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 I have 14 Netgeat WNDAP350 WAPS and one controller going if you can buy it? @Millgate I'll ask around for you but with these things being so cheap to buy new, they aren't likely to have any resale value It's generally high HP & Cisco kit that holds it's value.
fairm010 Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 To buy new a Netgear WNDAP350 is around the £250-300 mark (was when we bought the kit.) Cheers Luke
tech_guy Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 We've done quite well selling job lots on eBay. PITA to organise and do though. 1
twin--turbo Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 We started selling stuff on ebay, old laptops, PC's, duff batteries ( yes!! DUFF! ) , mobile phones, DVRs , TV. Etc.. Started just before Christmas and raised £650, seller restrictions make it a pain at the moment as the high value stuff we can only sell one a month. But I think we could generate 2K on stuff we have stored for ages. Takes a bit of time to do but worth it. Rob 1
fairm010 Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Thats whats putting me off... Its a huge PITA on top of my day job!
laserblazer Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 I heard somewhere that you need to take a bit of care selling school equipment because VAT was not put on the original sale. That said, I doubt there would be a problem with small quantities.

No it's not that VAT wasn't put on the original sale, it's a case of if you are VAT registered and claimed the VAT back if you then sell the equipment on you have to charge VAT on the re-sale value and pay that back to the taxman. Kyle Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 @Millgate Would you be interested in any Promethean boards? All under 5 years old?
Millgate Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 The best thing to do is to drop me an email with as much info as possible and I can ask around for you
