The film isn't technically in breach of any of YouTube's terms of use, however it isn't really the sort of film we'd like people to see when they search for our school name, so we'd like to have it taken down.

We (senior manglement) forced a student to remove a video entitled 'really boring maths lesson at ********' that he'd filmed covertly. To be fair, the lesson was boring, but there are only so many ways you can teach geometry and none of them are particularly cool.

It depends where it was recorded, if the child is in a public place there is nothing preventing you recording them I believe.

Our situation was specific, the OP has not enlightened us as to the specifics of their video. I was just thinking out loud about an angle they may not have...

I doubt it, but I'd guess it could keep whole families of lawyer fed deciding the question.

A school is most certainly not a public place as it is only open to people with a legitimate reason to be there, and not the public at large. If any of your pupils are featured inside the school grounds, then I would suggest that you have a case on child protection/privacy grounds. Also, if any of the commentry that represents the school in a bad light is inaccurate, it may also be classed as slander.
