Hefferzzzz Posted January 9, 2014 Author Posted January 9, 2014 It's funny you should say stomach cramps due to coffee intake, I have stopped all coffee now just tea and squash as I'm on a health drive for the new year. I used to get really painful stomach aches but since I've stopped drinking coffee this has also stopped!!! I wonder if coffee was the culprit!? Has to be the coffee for me. It was the only thing I stopped having during that period and stomach cramps/bloatedness has gone compeltely. I dont drink coke/pepsi either.
gmonks Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 I must be 1 of very very few IT workers in the country that has never had a cup of tea or coffee in my entire life. I've had a sip of coffee but that's about it. So damn tired lately though that I'm considering taking it up..... Never had coffee either. Or tea.
VeryPC Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 (edited) We are coffee mad at @VeryPC ^He's not kidding either. Got this selection of "Coffees of the World" for Xmas which I've brought in to share as I'd never get through them all at home: We've just started on the Costa Rican, which is nice and mellow with an indicated strength of '3'. We're working our way up to the number 5 ones gradually... Al EDIT - Just checked and the Costa Rican is only a '2'. Fearing the number 5 a bit more now. Edited January 9, 2014 by VeryPC 2
p3dr0 Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 anyone have any experience with bulletproof coffee?? there is a lot of buzz about it recently but i'm a bit skeptical... apparently it tastes great, gives you a buzz and mental edge, helps you loose weight and stops cravings.... but £25 its a bit pricey.. I think i will stick to my dolce gusto until pay rise :]

jinnantonnixx Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 5 ??? Try 6.... That is a nice coffee, but I tend to avoid it because of the quantities I imbibe. Besides, if I had that, I'd be awake all afternoon.

I'm going through some Brian Wogan bulk bought coffee beans, as my partner closed down her cafe in July, otherwise I buy one of these and one Fair Trade pack.
mrbios Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 This thread actually gave me the idea of trying it since my previous post of never having tried it. Decided i would start with a plain black coffee....disgusting. Then i thought i'd try adding milk and/or sugar, turns out i'd have to walk to the other side of the site for either so sod that i can't be bothered Next I'm going to try a fancy latte when i get a chance. One of our IT teachers has a cupboard with, well......i'll take a picture soon to show you exactly what he's got. To say it's impressive would be an understatement, but I'm going to try his mini-cupboard based starbucks soon anyway. For now I'll stick with the old can of monster to wake me up in the morning (a habit I'm trying to avoid seeing as one of the IT teachers here had a stroke from too much redbull. Granted he was drinking 5 cans of it a day!!!!) 1
creese Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Decided i would start with a plain black coffee....disgusting. I was told recently by a Zulu gentleman, that if I keep drinking black coffee, I will die soon. His name was Wiseman... but I still argued with him, I told him I had been drinking it like that since I lived in Germany, late 70s.

One large scoop of fine grounds, and just a little water through an Aeropress. Do not filter a full cup of water through, this is the wrong approach which will give you a bitter cup. Filtering a small quantity of hot (but not boiling) water through grounds will leave you with a strong, smooth espresso. Add water to dilute it to taste. I also use a Swissgold one-cup reusable filter thingy from Whittards. It's very good. If that's not your cup of tea... sorry, couldn't resist it... a French press or cafitierre will give a good cup. Drip coffee is a poor runner up, in my opinion. I've never had much success with a drip machine. Instant coffee should not be considered part of the discussion. VeryPC Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 5 ??? Try 6.... Yikes! The fact that they call it "Lava" is a bit ominous. I'll probably wimp out around the '4' level I reckon. Al
creese Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Yikes! The fact that they call it "Lava" is a bit ominous. I'll probably wimp out around the '4' level I reckon. Al Lovely stuff. I usually have one mug a day, first thing. I would never drink this in the afternoon unless I was really hanging.
Greenbeast Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 yeah I've had the hot lava java, good stuff but strong. I usually drink Rave Signature blend (purchased on amazon, usually roasted the day before despatch, and I grind myself)

creese Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 , and I grind myself) Do you really need to share that? Oh, you mean the beans. 2
Oaktech Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 When I worked in industry there was a catering size Bravilor Bonamat coffee machine plumbed into mains water right outside my office. I had a big insulated mug and I was drinking it by the pint! I actually got introduced to a visitor as 'Don't mind him, he's caffeinated" When I worked doing AV I was doing 50+ hour weeks and was basically living on caffeine, sugar and Ginsters. I didn't have that much coffee, but I had a lot of Monster Khaos (it's like liquid orange tictacs) I got pretty immune to it. The only thing that tipped me over was chocolate covered coffee beans, I had half a packet and lost the ability to blink for nearly 2 hours. I've never done so much work as that afternoon. I was wiped out the following day, so I had some more! When I got together with my now-wife she was basically 'Just stop it' so I did what I was told, and now more than 2 coffees a day send me through a loop of shaky hands, twitchy facial muscles and not blinking!

abillybob Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Ugh energy drinks in the morning! I couldn't do it a fizzy strong tasting drink to wake you up, my girlfriend was on energy drinks for a while and they're twice as bad as coffee really made her sick just google side effects of energy drinks they literally rot your digestive system! This thread actually gave me the idea of trying it since my previous post of never having tried it.
