laserblazer Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 The resort management have had a WiFi system installed that has a number of APs that are linked by radio. I don't know the manufacture but there's a AP on a big pole on top of our house. When I connect I get a 56Mbps link but as soon as I start any downloads, it drops right off as far as 1Mbps. I'm probably the only person online at present, so it can't be overloaded. I've discussed it with the management but they don't seem to understand the problem. Can anyone suggest what might be going on please?
Michael Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Once you're connected at 56Mbps, could you perform a speed test? If the results are still the same, try updating your wireless driver. Failing that, the fault is most likely to do with the wireless system set up. 1
laserblazer Posted December 29, 2013 Author Posted December 29, 2013 (edited) As soon as I start the test the wifi speed drops from 54 down to 5 or less. The test comes back at between 1 and 2 Mbps.
