We now have AB Tutor and I have now found out our DNS and DHCP are out of sync (some pc's not maping the correct name to PC location in AB Tutor). Two questions really,

1) is this a simple task to rectify so they are always in sync

and

2) are there any other issues this could have been causing

I presume your windows.

In dhcp -> domain -> Scope - (right click) > properties, we have ours set at 2 days.

Also if you have multiple scopes check each as you can have different lease time per scope.

Also check your DNS, in forward and reverse domain and arpa (right click) properties -> name server tab and ensure all name servers are listed with correct ips.

I don't control DHCP as we have a 'managed' CISCO router/switch set-up that deals with it, but our servers control DNS and I have noticed similar issues. There are a few old threads on here about it.

Here's mine:

You can check DHCP lease times from any workstation (I think) using ipconfig /all in the output it returns will be lease obtained and lease expires. Ours is 24 hours, but it's a bit more complex than that and I am still trying to find the optimum.
