CESIL Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Hi All, Has anybody here replaced a Promethean AV-3016 amplifier and if so with what? Ta muchly
cpjitservices Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Replaced a few with Cambridge Audio amps, they look identical. Not sure on make, model or price. 1
twin--turbo Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Yeah we had a couple of genuine promethean ones and some Cambridge ones. Any hifi amp sould be fine. Rob 1
Chris_Cook Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 We've been using these little wall mount ones: Vison Techconnect Stereo Amplifier V2 (TC2-AMP2) - www.misco.co.uk They take up much less room, and don't have as many complicated controls on. You can wire up two more inputs on the back to an av patch panel. It takes about 10-20 mins to install these. The other option we use is powered speakers, I prefer these, but they take more effort to install, as they need to be cabled in. ACTIVE30-SLV - PULSE - SPEAKERS, 5" 30W ACTIVE SILVER | CPC or ACTIVE40PRO-BK - PULSE - ACTIVE SPEAKERS, 40W RMS, BLACK | CPC All options cost a similar amount, so it depends on how much work is involved. 1
laserblazer Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 (edited) These are good There aren't bad http://cpc.farnell.com/qtx-sound/ka-2-silver/stereo-karaoke-amplifier/dp/AV11935 Edited December 4, 2013 by laserblazer 1
plexer Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 We wall mount a TC-AMP2 when the Promethean ones blow up. Ben 1
CESIL Posted December 4, 2013 Author Posted December 4, 2013 Thanks everyone I think I shall be investing in one these fancy TC-AMP2 units to try out...
TechSupp Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 ACTIVE30-SLV - PULSE - SPEAKERS, 5" 30W ACTIVE SILVER | CPC. Have had quite a few of these and they only seem to last so long then one or the other speaker gives up the ghost. Changed them for other makes when they do go.
playstation Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 http://www.amazon.co.uk/TA2020-Tripath-Class-T-Amplifier-Supply/dp/B007VMA6OU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1386325950&sr=8-1&keywords=amplifier These are awesome and cheap. I've had a whopping pair of s/h JBLs connected to one of these and the sound was flawless- loud too! My summer party rig for the house was an old hifi speaker (3ft tall, £5 from the car boot), one of these amps screwed on to the top, and my phone for the music source. These are nice to mount under or on top of a desk and v reliable too. 1
