dantheitman Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Hi, We are considering going with Webanywhere to provide a supported and custom designed Moodle platform with SIMS integration. Has anybody had any dealings with WA? We would like to gather some impartial and honest references before going any further. Thanks in advance!
edutech4schools Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Probably a great company but the constant sales calls I got a few years ago after calling them about a product I was interested in was enough to stop me calling them back.
jonnykewell1 Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 we had our moodle with them at our old school. Always seemed quite helpful to be honest, sometimes a tad slow in dealing with the requests but always got through to their tech support. Before upgrading to moodle 2 they provided us with a demo version which we could log into and show staff to help them prepare for the upgrade. I don't think they were too expensive either from what I remember.
glennda Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 I looked at them for sims intergration when i was looking at the parental reporting tick box. In the end I went with ziLink from Schools ICT aka @penfold_99 Was a very neat solution and worked pretty well. 2
timbo343 Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 I think @bossman might be able to help you here
synaesthesia Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 We used to use them until the people there that knew what they were doing split away as Overnet Data who we still happily use.
bossman Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 @dantheitman: We've been using them for the past year, found their staff really helpful and they never pester us. The technical staff are really good and have always been very quick with updates etc, had no real problems to speak of. You pays yer money and you makes your choice simple, I think all these development companies who use Moodle as the backbone system are all doing there thing and it's good to see a little competition. But to recap, no problems here 1
dantheitman Posted December 6, 2013 Author Posted December 6, 2013 Thanks to everyone for their input!
truebluesteve Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Bit late I know but for what it's worth I wouldn't use them Last year they installed migrated our existing Moodle setup onto their box and did all the SIMS and portal/gateway stuff. The project was hugely expensive and the final product is pretty poor IMHO. It was also delivered 6 months late with constant excuses and bits of the site not working or forever being bug fixed. Even now there are still things they haven't sorted out. As you can tell I'm not too impressed by them! Unfortunately I wasn't involved in the decision to use them and there were better, cheaper options available. It's also rubbish when used with mobile devices. The ongoing support is ok although bug fixes take an age to get resolved. Hope this helps Steve
funkyfin2000 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Just my two pennies worth... Don't have any direct experience of WA myself except I know I have 3 schools who heavily invested in it over the past 5 years and are now moving away from it to take up RM Unify and Office 365 as in their words it was just "too clunky", "old" and "very labour intensive" Rich
