Joining Acer Iconia to AD

Am trying to join just 2 Acer Iconia tablets to Active Directory. I can see the tablets within AD but the Acer's are not picking up the network drives.

What am I missing? Is there a quick fix out there?

There's a 1 in 3 chance it's a Windows variant. [based on model name.]

 

 

Are the tablets in the correct OU?

Is the GPO applying properly?

 

Have you tried "gpupdate /force"? [without quotes]

Also how are they mapped? GPP, script?

Can you map to the drives manually?

 

Either with right click Computer, Map network drive or Start, Run, \\server\share.

Might be best to try both in case you're actually picking up a GPO which hides all drives

If it's the W510 it comes with Home Premium as standard. You'll need to upgrade to Professional or Enterprise to join the domain, although you should be able to map the network drives.

That was my thinking but he said he can see them in AD.

Makes sense, being in the Win 8 forum [DERP].

 

How are your drives mapped? Logon Script? GPP?

Try the Broadcom 5.93.97.83 wifi driver. The others I tried had quite a few issues, e.g. looking connected but actually not, including the newer ones.

For Windows 8 you need to have the UAC on for things to work properly, I found this out the hard way. Most people in a domain environment turn the UAC off so I had to make a dedicated Windows 8 Policy where I put all our Windows 8 Tablets in the same OU and applied the following Policy.
