wroberts Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Hi All, We are currently experiencing some issues with AB Tutor, we have the program locked down so that staff can only control the room they are in, however sometimes when a teacher is demo'ing to their class via AB Tutor we get random occurences of this lesson being Demo'd to other classrooms "Randomly" they are never the same machines and the affect just 1 or 2 machines in the building. I was wondering whether anyone had seen anything similar as I know quite a few people on here use AB Tutor! Regards Will Roberts If i have missed any information out please let me know as i would really like to get this sorted !

wroberts Posted November 20, 2013 Author Posted November 20, 2013 Is your dns cleaned out? Are the a records up to date? Bit of a long shot. We believe so yes, has anyone else seen this problem on their network ?
hallb15 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 We use AB Tutor here, but only a simple setup on a USB stick and 32 Fizzbook netbooks. Not seen the issue you describe, but not likely to given the simple setup we have. Sorry, I can't be more help.
mikeprice Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Had this sort of problem quite a long time ago - sympton with us was that some PCs would fail to appear and some would appear from other classrooms. It seemed to be connected to problems with the DNS when the network was flaky. At the time my classroom (I was a teacher then - I am now trying to get a job as a technician) was all wireless and they had a habit of disconnecting and re-connecting and the DNS got confused. I have seen this again with proper wired connection - again when the network is a bit wobbley - maybe check that out first if not try flushing the dns cache and re-connecting the DNS cache and see if all the right PCs come up
ricki Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Is scavenging set up in the dns service on the server
richbrowncardiff Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 I have this as well ! we have DNS scavenging setup and working, the issues do seem to be dns related though. i asked support to take a look and they weren't wanting to get involved, i guess thats fair enough to a point but in my view if the product works on dns (which it does) i would expect a "recommended / best practice doc kb or something) if i work it out i will make one and post it
free780 Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 On the troublesome student pc find the ip. Flush the dns cache. Then do a nslookup for that pc. If all is correct flush the dns of the teacher pc. You write a psexec acript to flushdns on multiple pcs if needed.
