Gongalong Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Hi folks, The account for one of our Y11 students has an odd issue, when he logs on it immediately logs him off again with no error. I've removed Ranger from a test machine, and it still does the same thing. I'm having a look through events on the DC, but can't spot much other than the logging on and off events. For the moment I've created the student a copied account so they can get on and work, but I'd like to figure out why this is happening. Anyone come across this before and/or can suggest somewhere to look/troubleshoot? (We have a 2012 DC, with Win 7 clients. I've rebooted the DC, just in case) TIA
BKGarry Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Do you have roaming profiles, we have this happen here now and again, and you need to reset the profile on the server (and machine) and it then regenerates and works fine 1
Techie-v2 Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Have you had a look at the application and system logs on the client machine, might be some clues there logged by the user profile service 1
bwestlake Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 have you checked the student is not just being a student? where they log off purposely straight away? 1
DGardiner Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 might sound dumb, but someone hasn't added a shutdown /l or logoff.exe shortcut to startup in programs? wouldn't be the first time I've saw that 1
Gongalong Posted November 14, 2013 Author Posted November 14, 2013 Thanks all. It was a profile issue, which I should have twigged but I've never had that exact behaviour before - corrupt profiles I've had aplenty.
