ICTDirect_Dave Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Bloody good job people! Chris, Shaun, Ric; You guys are gents and I enjoy our occasional encounters immensely. You fellow Edugeekers are all brilliant (mostly) and you continually make my days in the office more entertaining and well informed (if not slightly less productive). Thank you all and Congrats!
dhicks Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 It's even recognised as an official resources here; the SLT and academy are very supportive of collaborative working and laud Edugeek for it's value in doing just that. Google seems to agree, too - several times I've been trying to figure out a problem, posted on EduGeek first, then come back to the task an hour or so later, tried a Google search and found the EduGeek thread asking the question is now top of the results. Something to bear in mind - The Internet is watching you...

I forget I had the issue previously, search google and find my old thread from the last time I had it!
vikpaw Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 yoiks! at least 3% spam. uber effort have you got a graph of post growth? - would be interested to see how many years before we double.
fiza Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 I have joined many IT forums over the years but Edugeek is the only one I keep coming back to everyday. It is part of my day to login and have a look to see what is going on, ask a question or 2, maybe even try to provide an answer (rare but it does happen!!). Thanks and may Edugeek continue to grow. Wont be long to the 2,000,000th post!!!!
ZeroHour Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Thanks all for the messages Btw to all those asking about the specific post, we do know and will give you details about who etc later today. More stuff to come over the next wee while 1

fiza Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 As an aside to this great news I just wondered which individual had the most posts and thus contributed the most to the total.

LosOjos Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Why not give a prize to the bod who posted the millionth post?! I've been the millionth user of so many websites it's untrue, I must be so lucky!
plexer Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 @localzuk has that honour Members - EduGeek.net Indeed I've been steadily moving up the list, not that I keep checking or anything Ben
sparkeh Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Indeed I've been steadily moving up the list, not that I keep checking or anything Ben Well some of us have work to do... 3
Andrew_C Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Congrats and all that... but I can't help wondering about the "geographic location" graph. Do a lot of Americans come onto the site overnight here, discuss American things, and disappear before I look in in the morning?
sparkeh Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Congrats and all that... but I can't help wondering about the "geographic location" graph. Do a lot of Americans come onto the site overnight here, discuss American things, and disappear before I look in in the morning? Hell yeah, haven't you seen all the posts about us damn limies? [stereotype mode = off]
Dos_Box Posted November 7, 2013 Author Posted November 7, 2013 Congrats and all that... but I can't help wondering about the "geographic location" graph. Do a lot of Americans come onto the site overnight here, discuss American things, and disappear before I look in in the morning? Heh, it is true that we have a lot more visitors from the US now than ever before and certainly a lot more post and join in, but many simply lurk. In fact, when we look at Woorpa (our real-time analytics package) we can see many visitors from the US who return again and again over many months without joining or posting. You also have to factor in that the east coast only starts going to work at about 1-2pm and the west coast many hours after that, so most of you in the UK/Europe don't get to see them at all. There is also the scale of the US to factor in. Over the past few years we have put a great deal of time and effort into showing our faces in America and it is now starting to pay off. Given their size and scale it is hardly surprising they are overtaking the UK visitors numbers given their population of almost 314 million vs the UK's 65 million. It's not that the UK is visiting any less (in fact the figures grow annually) just that there are more techies in America

LosOjos Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 What happened to her[?]... I don't know, but I daren't mention their name in case I summon them back from the fiery ring of flame they came from...
Dos_Box Posted November 7, 2013 Author Posted November 7, 2013 Apparently you have to say her name 3 times whilst looking into a mirror. 1
