Any one using Sky On Demand with a Virgin Media internet

I am thinking of moving away from Sky for my internet as my local BT exchange as not been upgraded to Openreach and according to BT website it has no planned date of upgrade either. I am thinking of ditching Sky (not their fault) and moving to Virgin for my internet where i know i am guaranteed getting 20mb. I have read on various forums that the Sky on Demand services can be flaking when using Virgin and can be slow as Sky servers can tell its a Virgin connection and slow you download down.

 

Can anyone give any advice on this please?

We have sky boxes connected to virgin media internet for a few years and havent had any issues with sky on demand services.

What sort of download tiem do you get when downloading a full say 2 hour HD film?

after about 5-10 secs, we can start to play the video but i think its under 10-15min for the full film to download. to be honest, i have never checked how long the video takes to download.

You never need to download the whole movie before viewing (unless you want to fast forward it for some reason!!). My brother had sky on demand with virgin, never had a problem.

I have my virgin internet plugged into my sky box and its worked fine from day one, no issues.

 

As others have said you can usually start watching a program within about 10 seconds of downloading it, it takes me about 5 mins to download a movie to the box on the on demand service, im on the 120mb service here though.

 

I will never do Virgin TV again after they argued with sky last time, I lost pretty much all the channels I watched overnight then (Sky1 and a few others)

Will be finally ordering Virgin internet now my 12 months is up with sky. Keeping sky TV though.

Deffo go for it, I have 60 meg soon to be upgraded to 100 meg connected to my sky box and I can fault it.

I've got Virgin internet and I use the Sky player on my Xbox a lot. No issues at all with quality or streaming.
