Hi there,

I have been running IE10 on my laptop for ages now but over the past few weeks it's become somewhat unreliable. For example, when I use my Yahoo email, I can read emails etc but when I want to compose a new message, it won't let me click send. Nothing happens when I click send. So for email I now have to use Firefox.

Another I have with both browsers is when I sometimes click on a link within a webpage, page will open up blank! If I get this in IE I can normally switch to Firefox and it'll work and vise-versa.

I have always had two browsers installed just in case but very rarely have I had to switch between the two but now it's several times a day!

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

If you view the website in IE using compatibility mode when viewing the problematic sites.. do you find that the problems go away?

If so, just add them sites to you compatibility view list and then maybe in a few weeks/months try it normally again once the developers have maybe updated the code.

Compatibility mode does bugger all :(

Have you tried another profile or user on the same machine?

It's either a profile issue or a mysterious DNS issue. Try manually specifying:

208.67.222.222

208.67.220.220 (OpenDNS) or

8.8.8.8

8.8.4.4 (GoogleDNS)

What graphics card do you have in the machine?

My laptop won't actually install IE10 due to a known compatablity issue with certain Graphics setups.

I was under the impression this was resolved by updating graphics drivers?

Yes but not all devices have up to date drivers - see here. Internet Explorer 10 does not install on some hybrid graphics systems

Mine is a Thinkpad Edge E420s, to be honest i'm not that bothered as I use chrome anyway,

The E420s has an AMD radion card along with an Intel Graphics chip.

It's odd AMD hasn't addressed this issue. IE10 was released early 2013 on Win 7. What happens if you installed Win 8.1 on a Thinkpad Edge E420s or IE11 Beta on Win 7?

I think the issue is that it has an I5 CPU, an intel gpu plus an AMD graphics card in it.

My next step is to 8.1 when I can be bothered to completely wipe my machine and reinstall, at the moment I am happy with it as it has everything I need and just how I like it.

Will probably happen at XMas
