Hi all,

One of my school wants to know if there is a way to set up alerts which flash up through SIMS.net to remind teachers of breaks, lunch and the end of school. I am aware of the individual alert option however is there a way to set up scheduled alerts which go out to all staff and repeat everyday?

Here hoping.

Thanks

That would be more suited to Outlook, if you have exchange you can set up repeating reminders globally.

I don't believe your staff forget when it's time to go home though, don't you have a school bell ?

The school in question don't have a school bell - I think the main issue is out of sync clocks so some kids are down 5 - 10 minutes before others. Back to the question would that be a 'no, there is no way to do this in SIMS'? Cheers

Yeah, it's not really a SIMS thing. There are alerts, but they are for fixed jobs and linked to a date rather than a time.

If you don't have a central calendar, you could look at a clock gadget / app for the computers but there is no way to be sure that they are in sync. We have a server linked to a timeserver but my PC frequently loses time and when it does that the internet stops working!

We also have synchronised wall clocks, but someone has to zero them every day, and when they forget, they all go out of sync.

The timeline on the SIMS homepage has an indication of the time down the side and it refreshes itself, but it won't pop-up or buzz, but it could be looked at for reference, though they may as well look at their watches for that matter!
