samba_man Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 I've just reinstalled a couple of new HP Probook 455 laptops but I'm having a bit of trouble with finding the SM Bus Controller driver. I've had this problem before and usually solve it by using the chipset/graphics driver but this doesn't seem to help. The chipset is the A series A6-4400M. Does anyone have any ideas where I can find this driver?
Griff Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 Normally I am able to find a driver for a device by right clicking it in device management go to properties then details and under the property box I find the device instance ID and take text from that and google it or I go into the hardware ID and do the same... hope that helps
bladedanny Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 find the vendor or device id as @Griff said and pop it into PCI Vendor and Device Lists you can find out what it is and sometimes it has the driver listed.
6Foot2 Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 I have found Slim Drivers useful in the past: Link: Slimware Utilities - Download SlimDrivers FREE The free version is limited by having to download each identified driver in turn. HTH.
SHimmer45 Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 money on it being one of the Intel Managment option drivers (HECI) or a plugin driver for some HP power management plugin
