SIMS Learning Gateway... Cloud Based?

Hi folks,

 

I'm sure someone told me this, but can someone confirm that SLG is cloud based? I'm guessing it does a data export (2-way?) with the locally hosted SIMS server.

We can host it for you. You can, if you have a SharePoint infrastructure host it yourself.

It syncs your Sims data with online data. Staff can go online and edit records and that will update sims server etc.

 

Your server CPU does sky rocket though so have a decent server first

So is the online bit in Sharepoint? And does it increase the CPU load on the originating SIMS server?

When we host SharePoint and the web parts that make up SLG that is all "in the cloud". It shouldn't put a strain on your servers but your servers will be supplying data to users via our infrastructure.

Do they do this over anything other than ports 80 and 443? I remember mention by our LA of need to open up more of the firewall.

Yes you do need ports opening, I can't tell you which as away this week.
