Renfield-64 Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Hi, has anyone got a recommended spec for buying new PCs? We need to be able to run stuff like Kodu and possibly a bit of video/photo editing stuff.
andyturpie Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Hi there, we run Kodu with no problems with a mid range core i3, 4gb RAM and SATA HDD. In fact, handles CS4 quite well with no strain on resources.
ICTDirect_Dave Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 TBH you shouldn't have any problems running this on Core 2 Duo systems, providing you have enough ram and a decent HDD / SSD. We certainly do enough photoshop / vid editing here on our E8400 processor machines.
CAWJames Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 To be honest most run of the mill PC's these days come with 4GB of RAM and a decent processor with built in graphics that will do everything bar the most intensive work, so really it's down to price! I can recommend Very PC as a supplier, we tried them out as an alternative to Dell, and found them cheaper and more helpful, they will bash out a spec to fit you, not sell you a spec they think will fit. Also the laser etched front panels with our college logo are v cool James
TheMrB Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 We run the most basic of basic Viglen branded i5's with 4Gb of RAM and we can run almost anything. Including CS6 web premium (No Premiere) (I know, I don't like Viglen either, but they are cheap, and the free 3 year warranty is appealing) The only time we have issues is with HD footage for the post-16 kids. They like to do more than your average and the 4Gb ram falls over. For our Media suites, we Upped it to a mid-range i5 and 8Gb RAM and everything works perfectly. Just my two penneth, hope it helps
