  1. A true gentlemen. Thank you very much.
  2. An asset register is exactly what I'm looking for. If you're happy to share it with me, I would really appreciate it. thank you.
  3. I'll get into it. Thanks man! I don't know what that means. See? A complete Newb
  4. I'm not sure how this happened, I know next to nothing about databases, but... I've been tasked with creating a database with a pretty front end that can add, remove and search the database behind it. Essentially, I need a table that includes a list of computers, monitors, etc etc etc that I can then search from a front page. Users also need to be able to add to the database from the front without opening the database. the issues I have are... 1. I know not what I'm doing. this isn't an urgent job and I've got time to learn the ropes, but I am a complete newb at this. 2. I can't install any additional software. MS Office, Visual Studio, sharepoint, that's pretty much it. I've gotten lost up my own backside looking for tutorials - hardly surprising when I don' know what I'm looking for. If someone could point me in the direction of a tutorial or two, I'd really appreciate it. cheers.
  5. Thanks everyone. Spent the afternoon putting a load of emails out. It's good to know people, that know people!
  6. Will do mate, thanks
  7. Much obliged, Thanks guys.
  8. Hi all, I've gotten what some may call a promotion and i've been instantly handed a load of AV stuff that wants quoting for hardwarre and installation. Unfortuantely, I've only got a couple of companies I talk to regualrly about this kind of stuff. Now I'm doing it in an "official" capacity, I'm in need of more suppliers to get more quotes. I'm talking everything from PCs to whiteboards to projectors. Anyone got any companies they recommend and that they've had positive experiences with? Cheers. PS. Apologies for the post. I was sure there used to be a "suppliers you use" kinda post somewhere, but I can't find it. Cheers again
  9. It does make me look rather good though. Apparently they had random outages and dead spots where they would usually have great service. Throwing in those reservations hopefully will cure that too. Thanks everyone!
  10. Oh Jesus! Went to start playing, realised the APs have fixed addresses but no reservation! Bloody hell! How do I delete the thread so I don't look like a complete tool! ***Slinks off to a corner to cry and re-evaluate my career options***
  11. Thanks. I admit, I'm loathed to reset the controller considering it appears to have been working fine up until Sunday. The fact I can't ping the APs from anywhere suggests the issue isn't with the controller. BUT! I'm a complete newbie when it comes to Ruckus, so if I can't find the issue, I will try it. thank you. As far as I am aware, all has stayed the same. But you're right. Thinking about it, all the devices dropping together sounds like the lease on the APs couldn't be renewed. I'll have to dig through the DC and see what I can find. From what I can tell, the VLANs are fine and unchanged. But I'm feeling my way through the config of Dell Poweredge switches to try and find out. More things I'm no good at having spent my entire time working on ProCurves! All good fun. Thank you both!
  12. Hi All, I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas. We've recently taken over the IT at a primary school in the city that, by all accounts, seems to have worked perfectly well (before we got there) After checking on a "Lack of wireless" report we had, it appeared that the Ruckus boxes weren't broadcasting anything. I have logged on to the Ruckus management device (Zone Director?) and discovered that all 13 devices are reporting disconnected. All at the same time (around 7.30 am Sunday, when the building was empty) From what I can tell, the devices are all taking power (via a POE hub on each floor) and are all connected to the network as they should be. I have restarted both POE hubs, warm AND cold restarted the zone director and they are still appearing disconnected. I'm pretty certain the issue isn't power, I've tested one with a POE injector with the same results. The switch(es) they route into are fine and have had no config changes since we took control several months ago. They all appear to be switched on, but not receiving a network connection. (not pinging back either) Any and all ideas would be welcome please. Has anyone experienced this before? Cheers
  13. Yup. Pretty gutted. I've been up to my eyeballs recently and missed this one too! Shame.
  14. Yeah for typing too fast on a slow iPad!
  15. Thanks for the replies guys. Apologies, I wasn't being rude and ignoring you, all hell broke loose today. (I *******hate cubase!) The speed isn't really an issue, mum happy to fire and forget once we get it working. I'm more against having a seperate device (be it a flash drive/HDD) just for a specific set of laptops. My own fault, should have checked the spec! Thanks again everyone!
  16. Hi all, Was loking for a quick bit of advice please. We currently use MDTK to deploy our win7 and win8 images across the network. We've recently bought a bunch of laptops with no Ethernet port so I can't image them from the network. (Wireless is out of the question) Has anyone had any success using those USB-Cat5 adapters? I want to try one out (Mainly to save me the embarrassment of saying I screwed up) but I'm not sure they'll work through WinPE Advice and recommendations gratefully received. Thanks
  17. Interesting that it only covers FTA stuff. Cheers for that. Shan't be nicking any of those dodgy alien shows off of History then! I did think it was the case, and (as far as work stuff goes) if I have to use some technical jiggery-pokery to make it work, I generally file it as illegal and I won't be doing it. You are right though. In a time when DVR and online Catch-up are as common as watching live, the copyright laws are pretty antiquated!
  18. Wow! That looks awesome!
  19. I thought that would be the case. It seems such a step backwards to go back to SD recordings on a standard SD Sky+ box too.
  20. We spent an entire summer copying all of Science's VHS tapes to DVD for them I've never laughed harder than when I was asked "How come the quality hasn't improved with the DVD" Not the first, or last time I've had to explain GIGO in this school
  21. So, if you know, Where would I stand bypassing any HDCP coming from my sky box if i was to record tv shows that I had DVR'd?
  22. Awesome, I thought that would probably be the case. Cheers
  23. I wish I could thank this post more than once! So many memories!
  24. I believe the issue comes when you download it to archive. My understanding is that if you have to "rip" it from somewhere, education or not, that's not allowed. Honestly, It's just my understaning and it's likely that I am completely wrong. And sod trying to sift through copyright law and figuring out what I can and can't do. If I had a law qualification good enough that I understood all that stuff, I wouldn't be an ANM
