We have recently implemented Remote Desktop services on one of our servers so that our staff can log in and use their apps from home. Everything is working really well but we have a really strange issue which is causing problems for some staff.

Most of the time our users click on Remote Desktop after logging in and then click on connect, this then loads the login screen of the server, the default domain to logon to has been set with group policy so users can just enter their username and password as normal.

On occasion some users have clicked on connect to be greeted with an "invalid username or password" message. Clicking OK shows that it has tried to log them on to the local machine so we now see SERVERNAME\username and then it asks them for their password, obviously this won't let them in as they cannot be authenticated with the local machine. To then gain access they have to click on switch user then other user then the default logon domain now shows as the local machine so they have to type in domain\username and then their password to gain access.

Does anybody know what may be causing this?

Thanks

Adam.
