We have a schoolshare drive here, it is for children and staff to access, share & save everything. Now for some reason when a student saves a file no one can open it up.

An example error is

PowerPoint was unable to open or save this document. Please ensure that you have access privileges to read or write the document and that it is not encrypted

Now, I have checked all permissions and set 'Everyone' full permissions and I have added our staff_grp and student_grp with full permissions too. The only way I have found to fix this is if I manually select a random document and change the owner from the student that has saved it to staff_grp!?

I can't figure out what is going on :(

It seems to be related to when children are saving their files, but the permissions on the files are fine :rain:

Thanks!

Did you remove/deny delete permissions at all?

I recall having some trouble with saving files to a "public" folder which I removed the delete permissions on (because let's face it, we all know someone will delete them) and getting similar errors because of the way Office saves documents (it works in a temporary file in the original directory).

My solution, though ungraceful was previous versioning and auditing... though I'm not entirely sure the auditing is totally accurate/useful.
