Tool & Component Storage - Looking for Recommendations

Hi all,

looking for some recommendations here.

I've now amassed enough assorted tools and electronic components that the missus in on the verge of kicking me and them out if I don't get them stored tidily soon.

I'm thinking something like this would be ideal: CTB5C - CLARKE INTERNATIONAL - TOOL CHEST SET | CPC

SG33272-40.jpg

Basically it needs a large storage area for tools and some drawers for components/nails/screws/etc. or at least another storage area I could fit some drawers inside. It's not essential it be on wheels, though it would be nice.

Anybody have anything like this who could make a recommendation? Or recommend any brands? Also, any ideas where to buy them from? Obviously I know CPC do them but it'd be nice to be able to shop around a bit for the best price...

Machine Mart for something like that might be better? Assuming you want a mechanics style tool chest / box as per your image above

I'll have a look, thanks. Something like a mechanics toolbox seems a good option - nice big storage space for tools at the bottom, drawers I can organise components in... there may well be something out there designed with electronics in mind but as it's only my hobby, I'm not aware of anything better :)

This is what I personally had - B72-4262 - Eurocase 2000 Standard : Product Detail that was great and could store small bits and bobs in the bottom trays, but then had wheeled trolleys from Argos for more parts :)

I can highly recommend Parts Boxes & Organisers style tubs for storing screws, nuts, bolts, stand-offs etc.. in as they are brilliant. I got one at my last place and we put all the different Projector bits and bobs we had accumulated over the years in it so were perfect when we swapped to Casios as we could grab the case and lots of bits ahoy :D

I've seen similar large tool storage at Costco

@kearton hang on I'll just re-mortgage the house lol

Compared to what the OP linked too.

Ben

LOL yeah I'll check Costco out but my budget is nearer to £100 than £1,000 - it's only a hobby after all! :)

I use a couple of storage cabinets to keep all of my electronic components in, you can get them from Rapid Electronics, see link Storage

I have some of the Treston ones but Raaco are just as good.

Ouch. Yeah. I just saw the picture (and didn't follow the link) and remembered seeing similar last time I was at Costco :(

OMG I waaaaaaaaant one those Sortimo systems like Adam Savage's!

But that WOULD necessitate a re-mortgage, or possibly selling a kidney...
