laserblazer Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 I have a leatherman squirt that is on a lanyard. I've used it for a wide range of tasks, including extracting a broken brace from a kid's mouth.
sidewinder Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 I'd be concerned about carrying one on your belt, not for safety but because it looks ridiculous!
laserblazer Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 I'd be concerned about carrying one on your belt, not for safety but because it looks ridiculous! It's in my pocket, the lanyard is to stop it falling out and getting into the wrong hands
sidewinder Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 It's in my pocket, the lanyard is to stop it falling out and getting into the wrong hands Was a general comment at those who said they carried them on their belts
m25man Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Was a general comment at those who said they carried them on their belts I visualised that the majority on this forum goes to work looking like an extra from 3rd Rock from the Sun anyway, so a leatherman on the belt would be pretty cool! ubernerd A nerd that other nerds look upon as a God amongst their species. laserblazer Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 I'd love to have it on my belt but there's no room, what with the two phones in fake leather pouches, technician's toolkit and my sporran.
Sirbendy Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 I have a Leatherman Blast - goes everywhere with me. Nobody at work has queried it, I've recommended one to our junior tech too. Invaluable bit of kit. Due a service now, of course - it's very well used!
Sirbendy Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 I've just realised it's now classed as "retired"...! If I send it in for service, that means I may not get a Blast back..I'm really rather attached to my beastie..

Only those in "nice" schools, surely? Some of us have to go in fully tooled up:
Ex-MGSTech Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 I've had a Leatherman on my belt for over 20 years, its not leaving anytime soon! Its also laser engraved with my name and postcode! Although, someone once said its a statutory offence to carry a bladed "weapon" in a school? Plastic cutlery anyone?
laserblazer Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 I lifted this from the Dorset Police website Can I carry a knife with me? Not unless you have a good reason to - for example, to use at work, for religious purposes or as part of a national costume. There are very few good reasons for youngsters to carry knives. If the someone is being prosecuted for carrying a knife in public or at school, they will have to prove that they were carrying it for a good reason.
