I need a SMTP relay server so out finance software can email users notifications!

Hi All,

I have had a linux box sat in the corner of of server room for about 5 years happily chugging away as our SMTP server.

Last week I noticed that I wasn't getting any emails from my backups and our finance software was sending emails to staff.

It turns out that the power supply on the linux box has packed in and I don't have a spare to replace it.

Is there a way I can use a public SMTP server for this? Is this what other people do? Or is there a quick way i can set up a new SMTP for this purpose?

Thanks

I did have zimbra on the old Linux box, but is is truly dead.

I have set up IIS 6 with SMTP on one of our Server 2008 R2 servers. Using the Microsofty office365 guide, but the mails just sit in the C:\inetpub\mailroot\Queue folder and never leave!

If it is queing then it can't go out, it isn't setup properly.

I think you can open the emails in notepad and it will tell you why it is queing, I know you cna open badmails and it tells you.
