TechSupp Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Having a slight problem with WSUS, its synchronise is stuck on 10%, tried it last night and it got to 11%, stopped it today and restarted the download and its now at 10% and waiting. Anyone got any ideas?
Michael Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Low disk space possibly? Although you'd just expect it to fail. Are you sure it's not being filtered or blocked by a proxy?
TechSupp Posted September 19, 2013 Author Posted September 19, 2013 Was working fine before the summer, just stopped during the summer and found on the web that I needed to run the cleanup utility in WSUS which the allowed it to start synchronising again but 10% is as far as it gets.
3s-gtech Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 We found the BITS service was being blocked/filtered by the the proxy, so we changed it to get it working again. Worth a try, and you can re-enable it afterwards.
TechSupp Posted September 19, 2013 Author Posted September 19, 2013 Thanks, will give that a go, as I said did work previously. Will check my other schools wsus is synchronising as that uses the same council proxy.
pete Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Check how big your WSUS SQL database is. If you're using the Express version, and your database grows past the limit (4GB for SQL2008, 10GB for 2008R2, IIRC) WSUS doesn't work. It sounds like you're syncing direct to Microsoft, so it's unlikely to be a broken upstream council WSUS box. If WSUS in the other schools isn't working, it's probably time to ask the council what they've been fiddling with.
TechSupp Posted September 20, 2013 Author Posted September 20, 2013 Just checkedd and other server is updating just fine.
