Hodgson123 Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Hi All, We have recently moved from an RM cc3 network to a Vanilla network with server 2012 and windows 7. Been searching the internet for hours to try and find graphic drivers for the wonderful Dell d505s. So far iv yet to have any luck. Just wondered if any of you have found them anywhere and were willing to share. Thanks
3s-gtech Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 (edited) The D505 has a 915G graphics core - this is a DirectX 9.0b part but without WDDM. That means Aero won't work, for starters. The graphics performance is also incredibly poor, even for SD video playback. It was a while since I played with this, but I believe there is a driver that at least gives a replacement for the built-in Windows driver, but honestly I would not be looking at putting 7 on these machines - they date back to 2004. I believe this is the driver package I tried - you can't install it, but you should be able to extract the driver files using 7zip and install them via Device Manager. http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?swItem=ob-47264-1 http://forums.speedguide.net/showthread.php?254529-I-need-Vista-Win-7-driver-for-intel-915-graphics Edited September 17, 2013 by 3s-gtech
Oaktech Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Hmmm... Weird. Ours just worked. the graphics card came up as VGA standard and we told windows update to go looking for a driver and it found one. Seconded however on the appalling performance.
synaesthesia Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Absolutely, those things are ancient - outperformed even by the original Fujitsu Laptop for Teacher things still knocking around here! Really would be time to get rid!
