To be fair, this contest does seem pretty moot, I thought it was a recruitment drive at first, but there's no way it can be. Everybody will be sharing these answers within communities, they have to know that'll happen.

I have zero clue what you all are doing, but I could go ahead and submit all these answers anyway. I won't. But I could.

It is. Sort of.

Same as the last one.

TBH, this seems like BS. They're trying to find people with certain skills, but they test them in ways that done seem like something they'd be likely to encounter working for GCHQ.

How often do you think GCHQ spooks get told to find something on the internet, with NO starting point. That's what this looks like, "we hid some codes on the interweb... find them."

A million billion webpages and they expect people to just know where to look. They don't want code crackers, they want psychics.

worth entering just for the prize draw, answer #3 ENIGMA2013

Cheers. I was waiting for answer #3.

I'd laugh if every person who gets a prize is someone who found the answers on the internet.

It's the much more likely scenario. All it takes is ~20 people to post to public/pseudo-public forums and we'll see easily 10 times that many enter with no effort at all.

Well, if history's anything to go by, they'd already know what your browser history looks like. :D

I'm tempted to put the answers in for the prize, but I wouldn't want my doors and windows going in...

I went in for it, I'm probably on a list now.

Oh well, GCHQ can watch Dragonball all night with me if they want.

Given that I look at all of these and go 'Uh, wtf?!'.. I'd be interested if someone would explain how they worked these out? Even if only in layman's terms - I wouldn't expect a full cryptoanalysis report :p

On an article about this someone said something about transposing letters, 11 and 13 and Q is a nul character... and that makes it "turing"

So GCHQ ask people to work out the answer to some secret information just for someone to find it and leak it all over the Internet? Sounds like a genuine recruitment drive to me! :D
