john Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 @zag - they sound very good, don't suppose you know what they're like for managing joint current/savings accounts online do you? Lloyds TSB are rubbish at this - you have to apply in branch, which is fair enough for the initial account set up but not for every time you want to set up a new savings account! As long as you have done the trip to the bank once with your life history, bills, birth cert, passport etc..... (you get the drill) AND you have online banking it seems fine for me, I have opened 2 or 3 ISA, a number of savings and current accounts with Natwest now no issues. So should work fine unless they have something silly for Joint Account customers.
psydii Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 (edited) It took close to seven years to complete the merger of the lloyds and tsb systems. Then they bolted HBOS on the side (with sellotape and a prayer). And now they've demerged them in just a couple of years. I doubt they will ever really have worked the snags out of that project. zag Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Metro bank are a brand new entrant, I read a really good article on how they could build their IT systems from scratch and this gave them a massive advantage over the other banks.
plexer Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 hmm lol fail. I just changed my mobile phone number on the tsb internet banking site as they have to call you and get a security number when you set up a new payment, the screen says for security reasons it will be 3 days before you can use this number to verify a payment, ok gret. Just got a text to that new number saying "Alert: Your Internet Banking phone numbers were changed on the 10/09 at 10:15. If you DID NOT do this call........." Hmm yeah ok. Ben

Ben I fail to see the issue? They won't let you use it to authorise a payment but don't say they won't contact you on it to confirm it is you etc... or have they now called you with the security code to that number which is then a fail?

Verifying the new number should involve checking via the old number - if someone had changed the number illegitimately, they'd also be able to "verify" it themselves...

No it's the fact that if someone had got access to my online banking yes before they could transfer money out of my account they would need to add a number to do so and wait 3 days but then texting that number that has been added the scammer would just think great I've just got to wait. Sending a text to the number in no way confirms it's me does it? if they rang me on that number and got me to go through security then it would. Ben

Do they not text the old number as well to say a change has been made at the same time?
plexer Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 I'm not saying it's very probable but still they should ring me on the new number and do a security check, what would be the point in txting the old number? I no longer have it. Just because I look after my olb details doesn't mean everyone does though does it? Ben
