YouTube for Schools issue?

Is anyone having issues with Youtube for schools?

 

We implemented it here about 12 weeks ago, and up until the last few days, it seemed to be working fine.

 

Now, I've added a few staff accounts to the allowed list on there and they still get prompted that videos need adding to playlists by the admin.

 

A weird thing - they're signed in on the youtube.com page, but when they go to an actual video, it looks like they're not signed in, and clicking sign in flicks through accounts and then back to the video where it still says they aren't signed in.

 

We've not changed anything our end - we have a Squid cache which rewrites the URL to include our youtube for schools key, and youtube SSL is filtered.

 

I'm now at a loss!

I've tried a second time, and it worked for 1 video... Then the filtered message.

 

I'm about to go all stabby about this...

YES! This is driving me nuts now.

 

We use Google Apps and this seems to be complicating matters further.

I have noticed the following:

 

1) If a user is signed out of Google the video says it needs to be added to a playlist. They click sign in. The video is still inaccessible and looks like they are still not logged in.

2) If they then go to Google they actually are signed in. If they click YouTube from the bar across the top then they get something along the lines of "Oops there was a problem signing you in"

3) If they click email, then click YouTube from the email window, they are signed in and everything works as expected.

 

Can't get my head around it.

Great. I post about it on the support forum there... and it starts working.

 

Let's see if it continues to work later today.

I haven't messed with it since last school year, but it did pretty much the same thing to me. Just really inconsistent operation and over goofiness while at other times working as it should. I wound up pulling the plug on the project and only allowing staff access to Youtube in its entirety. I too was using the URL rewrite method in Squid via a Perl script. I always wondering if it would operate smoother if I went with the header modification route, but never came back to it.
