[sims] Errors 1142-9935-3500 and 2816-4897-4000

Has anyone come across these errors before? I've raised them to MIS and they haven't been able to help.

It's a brand new install of Server 2012, and identical builds of Windows 8 Pro on the desktops.

Solus 3 is running, and deploys no problems, but I'm now left with two PC's that give these errors :

They have escalated the issue to Capita but I've not heard anything back yet,

Not seen those specifically, but have you tried re-installing both SIMS.NET and .NET 4 on the problem machines? If not, try SIMS first, if that doesn't crack it then try .NET 4

 

EDIT: also check these machines have the network drive to SIMS mapped properly (is it E: or S: these days?), the second error looks like it could be an unhandled connection issue to your DMS

The second error is that SIMS does not have permission to create/access the XML files it created on login, usually in users H: drive or local My Documents. Check the user can access the H:\My SIMS Documents folder and have full write permissions to it.

 

When a User first logs in to SIMS .net, 2 folders and an XML file are created in the target location of My Documents e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\\My Documents\My SIMS Documents\\.xml or H:\My SIMS Documents\\.xml. This error can occur if the network user does not have Full Control of the target folder.

We are getting the same error, did you find a fix for this?

we have tried re imaging the machine with 2 different images.

installing a fresh OS from CD.

the drives are correctly mapped and have even pointed sims.ini to the server.

we have reinstalled sims multiple times using both GPO script and manual installation.

we have checked permissions to the machine.

we have checked permissions to the domain.

we have even tried to give staff local admin rights.

 

This issue only affects one user account, other users can use Sims on this machine.

but this does not affect all Sims workstations some machines are working with this user fine.

we have also run simsperm.bat

 

the only "fix" we have found is to recreate the user account but we can no longer do this as we have Office365 connected to our AD. (and this will break mailboxes).

 

the Weird thing is the sims account works under other users AD accounts, and other Sims users can log in under the AD with the problem but when the two are used together this error comes up.

 

any help ? as we cant recreate User accounts and the problem sounds like a sims problem.

I had exactly these fault codes today.

 

When logged on as the user, I could access SIMS no problem but the user couldn't. But when logged on as me, both of us could access SIMS.

 

On talking to the user it turns out that she had cleaned out the files in her SIMS Document Folder - a simple restore from the recycle bin sorted it.

sorry this is a necropost too. we had this with a user but that user had not altered or changed anything in her Sims Documents folder. There was a lot of items in there however. I ended up renaming the folder, so when she loaded SIMS it would create a new one, and it got her back on; but I am nervous this will cause undefined behavior or lose her access to things. Does anyone know a real fix?

She could access the XML files etc and all permissions were fine. It was working in the morning, we had a powerfailure and she couldn't log back on afterwards though other users were fine. (though the power failure may have just been co-incidence if there is a max file amount limit?)

Just to add more detail to the above, the path it uses is based on a User specific reg key:

 

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

 

I've had some issues in the past with this not pointing to the right place so it's worth checking.

With the first one, I'd check all your region/date/time settings and ensure there's no customisation in place. Historically, SIMS has a habit of struggling with customised date/time formats.
