1. Our school has just taken on the Bromcom MIS app, and parents are complaining about the adverts included in the parents app. Has anyone successfully blocked or bypassed them? Our pihole isn't showing where the adverts are coming from, so I'm assuming they're coming from the Bromcom domain. Also, I think it's unacceptable that a application that has become mandatory for parents to use to have adverts. We're getting a backlash and rightly so. I'm assuming the school has paid a lot of money for this MIS suite and it's disgusting that parents are getting nickle and dimed like this.
2. Hi. The software was installed on the system before it was joined to the domain. Profiles are stored on the server, the affected user is in all the same groups as the other teachers and that group has full access to the folder. I wouldn't have thought it would be temp files on a fresh system install, but I'm willing to give it a shot! Thanks!
3. I have a problem with Activinspire, in that it crashes without fail when you try and edit the profiles. The method I have here will crash it without fail on this users laptop. She has a brand new laptop, hardware has been tested and it's fine. Fresh install of both Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, happens in both. Computer is domain joined, and occurs whether she is connected to an activboard or not. The installed version is the latest off the website. Anyone have any ideas? Attached is the "Problem Steps Recorder" capture of the problem. active inspire.zip
4. Do your schools have their own IP addresses though? YHGFL only NAT through about 8 AFAIK.
5. Has anyone come across these errors before? I've raised them to MIS and they haven't been able to help. It's a brand new install of Server 2012, and identical builds of Windows 8 Pro on the desktops. Solus 3 is running, and deploys no problems, but I'm now left with two PC's that give these errors : 1142-9935-3500 Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at SIMS.UserInterfaces.HomePageDetail.timerVisible_Tick(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Timer.OnTick(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Timer.TimerNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam) HomePageUserInterfaces -2147467261 2816-4897-4000 SIMS.Processes.DocumentManagement The type initializer for 'SIMS.Processes.DocumentManagement' threw an exception. at SIMS.Processes.DocumentManagement.LoadPendingDocuments() at SIMS.Processes.DocManagementCache.setDocuments() at SIMS.Processes.DocManagementCache.Populate() at SIMS.Processes.HomePageDetail..ctor() at SIMS.UserInterfaces.HomePageContainer..ctor() at SIMS.UserInterfaces.HomePageDetail.OnLoad(EventArgs args) at System.Windows.Forms.UserControl.OnCreateControl() at System.Windows.Forms.Control.CreateControl(Boolean fIgnoreVisible) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.CreateControl(Boolean fIgnoreVisible) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.CreateControl() at System.Windows.Forms.Control.OnVisibleChanged(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.ScrollableControl.OnVisibleChanged(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.OnParentVisibleChanged(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.OnVisibleChanged(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.ScrollableControl.OnVisibleChanged(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Form.OnVisibleChanged(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.SetVisibleCore(Boolean value) at System.Windows.Forms.Form.SetVisibleCore(Boolean value) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.set_Visible(Boolean value) at System.Windows.Forms.Application.ThreadContext.RunMessageLoopInner(Int32 reason, ApplicationContext context) at System.Windows.Forms.Application.ThreadContext.RunMessageLoop(Int32 reason, ApplicationContext context) at System.Windows.Forms.Application.Run(Form mainForm) at SIMS.UserInterfaces.DefaultEntryPoint.Main(String[] commandLineArguments) DocManagementProcesses -2146233036 They have escalated the issue to Capita but I've not heard anything back yet,
