Proxy settings in GPO (settings moved?)

Morning all,

 

I'm probably just being silly but I'm struggling to locate the proxy settings in GPOs and I need to add some proxy exceptions which I've done in the past?

 

I went to User Config/Policies/Windows Settings but then there is no internet explorer maintenance?!?

 

When I look at the settings list to show what has been set it is listed there but when I go to edit it's not???

 

Has it moved or am I going mad?

Aren't they under preferences?

There is internet settings under preferences but that's not where it was originally set :-(

 

I can actually see all the original settings and exceptions when looking through settings tab and the route it reckons they are set under is user config/policies/windows settings/internet explorer maintenance but when I get to windows settings there is no ie maintenance :-(

Ok, After speaking to another techy I've found out that Microsoft have changed things around and I've got a bit of work ahead of me to configure the new way.

 

Basically the 'internet explorer maintenance' policy is no longer used as Microsoft has decided to change things :-( Any settings you set there will stay but to amend or use IE10 you have to goto user config/preferences/control panel/internet settings and then create a new policy for each browser (ie9, Ie10, etc). you then need to go through setting all the internet settings for each browser.

 

I wish I'd found this out earlier...

Have you installed IE10 anywhere you mange GPO from

Thank you I've now managed to edit the policies from a client pc that hasn't had 1e10 installed. I will still set all the settings correctly when I get chance but now it's not as urgent.

Thanks for this @IT_Man_Dan it answers a post I was just going to create. Unfortunately when I go to the location you mention I only have options for IE 5 & 6, IE 7 and IE 8. How do I add in one for IE 9 please?

I had an OHNO second the other day when we stopped using a proxy and couldn't turn it off... Did some Googling and turned up the above!
