I have suddenly hit a major issue with a task sequence.

This task sequence has already been working fine for a good 10+ laptops of this model (HP ProBook 6560b), but suddenly it won't work!

It boots into WinPe shows "Windows is starting up" followed by "Setting up network connections" and then the screen goes black with a cursor only and reboots, failed.

I've not changed anything since the machines working and these identical machines not working.

I can't find any logs either!

Anyone got any ideas?

As soon as it boots into PE can you F8 to get the command prompt and see if you can ping the SCCM server.

Just double check your devices have a mac address in SCCM. I have noticed newly imported devices that have no client installed sometimes "loose" the mac address. Also just check the device hasn't duplicated itself.

I have had it couple of times. Either they have lost the Mac or decided to duplicate itself. Once the client gets 1 install all is ok.

If you have EP running on the server, make sure you have the exclusions set. The EPAV can lock files which can prevent files being updated which will often cause OSD to fail.
