If they do moth ball it what is everyones thoughts on the Sony VAIO Due 13 http://www.edugeek.net/forums/general-chat/120928-advice-laptop-tablet-hybrid-2.html#post1051406 It even has a Sim card slot for 3g. It is quite heavy still, the screen is fixed in one position and the locking piece and arm are VERY flimsy which is a surprise for Sony. I am sure the specs are good but I had a good fiddle in PC world (no laughing!!) and was unsure for the price tag.

edutech4schools Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Bit confused, on the Sony UK site it seems to be called a fit but the images of the fit do not show it folding to a tablet.
edutech4schools Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 The hinge on the flip seems to add a lot to the thickness when in tablet mode. The Samsung ativ Q looks much thinner to me.

GREED Posted September 7, 2013 Author Posted September 7, 2013 Well Day 2 with the Dell XPS 12 and already had to get Dell support to dial in and sort an issue (new BIOS update)... all the physical buttons on the case (not the keyboard) died suddenly!

Indeed I was like I can finally upgrade to 8.1 (only one left in IT in the office using 7 as I hate 8) but 8.1 doesn't have a real one so Classic Shell is what will be needed to make it human

The Start screen is fine IMO, it's the lack of apps using tiles properly that sucks (you get an appreciation for Live Tiles when using Windows Phone 8). And Metro apps need to die now as they are useless on a PC. 2

METRO SUCKS five us a start menu again I'm going to go against the flow here, I know, but I like it. Since they started including a run box in the start menu I've never used the thing anyway - there's not a single program I can't access faster by typing it's name instead of hunting through menus. For the few where I want one-click access, I just pin them to the taskbar. As far as I'm concerned the new interface only got rid of an annoyance on the screen which I never used, and took up screen estate. The start screen on the other hand I can pin various useful tiles to (things I'm actually interested in) and get an at-a-glance check of my various e-mail accounts, media accounts, train schedules, latest news and so on. Not to mention being able to jump straight into playing a film on Netflix by starting to type the title and other useful little bits.
